Hundreds of Just Stop Oil supporters are marching through the streets of London tomorrow in a defiant celebration of the effectiveness of civil resistance. The march is also to honour all those who have taken action with Just Stop Oil since 2022 including those who have been incarcerated as political prisoners. [1]
The march is starting in St James Park at 12:30pm. It will head around Parliament Square, past Downing Street and to the Royal Courts of Justice, where Tim Crosland for Defend our Juries will speak to Just Stop Oil supporters. Later the march will head across the river to Jubilee Gardens where Just Stop Oil supporters will hang up their hi-vis vests before listening to speeches from Just Stop Oil spokespeople Sarah Lunnon and Chloe Naldrett and a recorded message from Roger Hallam in prison. A Just Stop Oil spokesperson said:
“Just Stop Oil’s initial demand to end new oil and gas is now government policy, making us one of the most successful civil resistance campaigns in recent history. We know that resistance works and it’s needed now more than ever, so we’re just getting started.
“The fascists are coming. The super rich are bleeding us dry. We face 2°C of global heating in the 2030s and billions of deaths within decades. Nothing short of a revolution is going to stop this.
“The current political and economic system is broken and no-one is coming to fix it unless we do it for ourselves. So we are building a revolution in the UK’s broken political and economic system by taking back power from the rich and putting ordinary people in charge. Sign up to take part in the House of the People at www.HouseOfThePeople.UK.
“We are also building a new street movement rooted in local communities and dedicated to nonviolent civil resistance on a scale that Just Stop Oil never even dreamt of. Help put people on the streets by funding the next phase of civil resistance at juststopoil.org/donate.
On March 27th Just Stop Oil announced it was “hanging up the hi vis” and that today’s action would be the last. However, Just Stop Oil supporters will continue to tell the truth in court, to speak out for our political prisoners and to help build what comes next. [3]
Since 2022, 3,300 people have been arrested after taking action with Just Stop Oil and over 180 have spent time in prison. There are currently 11 people in prison serving sentences as a result of actions with Just Stop Oil and at least 5 more are expected to join them in May.[4]

April 26th 2025 is the last Just Stop Oil action, but our supporters will continue to tell the truth in the courts, speak out for our political prisoners and call out the UK’s oppressive anti-protest laws. Just Stop Oil continues to rely on small donations from the public to make this happen.

Just Stop Oil ‘Blue Lights’ policy: our policy is, and has always been, to move out of the way for emergency vehicles with siren sounding and ‘blue lights’ on.
